Congratulations to our good friend Eric Herman who just self-published a wonderful little book based on approximately 150 of the most important quotes in Second Language Acquisition. From time to time, we will publish some of those quotes here. Here’s one that goes back 46 years to 1973, an oldie and a very goodie, from Winitz and Reeds:

At a time when so much thoroughly sound theory is available to them, it is a pity that so many foreign language teachers still cling to a few discredited notions of second language acquisition. Our foreign language teachers, to say nothing at all about their students, deserve better.
